Triumphant (Ship) logbook abstract, 1804-1806.

The logbook abstract of the ship Triumphant details a shipping voyage from Salem, Mass., to India, Cape Verde, and Saint Helena, Aug. 1804-May 1806. The abstract does not continue while in port. The ship's home port was Salem; the owners were Clifford Crowninshield, Benjamin Goodhue, Jonathan Waldo Jr., and Jacob Ashton; the master was William Ashton; the logbook keeper was William Osgood. The abstract includes correspondence and a memorandum on lighthouses. See Log 1804T for the entire logbook.

William E. Osgood was born in N.H. in 1926. He had completed four years of high school and was working as a professional driver when he was inducted into the Army in 1944 at Ft. Devens, Mass. Osgood volunteered for the ski troops through the National Ski Patrol System. He was stationed at Camp Swift, Tex. and in Italy where he was assigned to the 87th Infantry Regiment, Company C.
